A Breath of Fresh Air

My Breath of Fresh Air is to discern to live in truth rather than the world’s opinions and expectations.

Before,  I would be passive and allow the bad things to take room with the positive, whether it was people or things.

Lately, my convictions have caused me to go outside of my “safe Christian comfort level.”I have been at such a crossroads with people and things that I thought were true and genuine. I started understanding that the road to heaven is not broad but narrow. I started acting on my convictions and actively making tough decisions.

God’s discernment is key because it guides and directs your path. When you know God’s truths, then your discernment kicks in. You are not swayed by popular opinion but rely on God’s truths in the decisions you make. But to get discernment from Him, you have to have knowledge of God’s truths through His Word. To have that understanding you must be saved and ask Jesus to come into your heart. From His Word, you get infallible truth that does not fade.

BUT, you have to want that truth and act on the convictions God gives you (Easier said than done). Ask God to give discernment and also courage to act. And He will see you through. It is not enough to read it and put it aside. You can’t go the other things or people for truth because it will fail you down the line and disappoint you.

Discernment gives you growth. You are growing into the person God has called you to be. Do not be afraid. God has not given us a spirit of fear.

Pray for conviction. Pray for discernment. Pray for courage to act on your convictions.

I will leave you with God’s truths about discernment and knowledge:

An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.-Proverbs 18:15

When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.-Romans 13:11

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.-Psalm 1:1-2

The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.-Proverbs 4:7

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,  filled with the fruit of righteousnessthat comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.-Philippians 1:9-11

Have a blessed week and Thanksgiving. I will have a special post for that soon.

The Breath of Fresh Air is Represent Christ.

It is important as Christians to be the representation of Christ, not any label or political institution.  You represent Christ in the way that you walk, talk, and post. As you go about this week, be mindful that you are an ambassador of Christ. You may be the only Bible or representation of Christ that a person may see.

Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.-2 Corinthians 5:20

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.-Ephesians 5:1-2

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.-Ephesians 2:10

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.-Ephesians 4:1-3

A Breath of Fresh Air

via Daily Prompt: Value

My Breath of Fresh Air is Value yourself the way your Heavenly Father does.

In my Sunday School class, we were talking about 1 Peter 3. There was a discussion about 1 Peter 3:3-4 “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” What was Paul trying to say? Should women not care about their appearance? Should I undo my braids? Should I get rid of all my jewelry? No makeup?

For many years, I had insecurities about my appearance. I wanted to be wanted and loved. I thought that I needed to change my looks and live up to “society’s expectation of beauty.” You can watch the news, go on social media, and go anywhere to see what is “hot and trendy.” When I could not look like the pretty girl, my confidence would lessen. I would devalue who I was and belittle myself.

It was not until my mom told me that a relationship, children, looking a certain way, a career, etc. would not fill my heart; only God can do that. My mom told me that I needed to love myself from the inside out the way my Heavenly Father sees me. So I had to learn to value Bianca. Yes, I am a driven, smart, beautiful person. God did not make a mistake when He made me. This revelation came about 3 years and I have been valuing me ever since then.

Women are allowed to wear jewelry, braid their hair, and look/feel beautiful but that should not be the only thing that defines us. Inner beauty should reflect the “beauty and essence” of who a woman is. My hair, clothes, and jewelry may change but I am still the same Bianca. I am beautiful from the inside out. Why shouldn’t I value myself?

I would like to encourage you with these words: You are fearfully and wonderfully made by the Creator of the Universe. You are not anyone’s mistake or burden. Value who you are in the here and now because Jesus loves you.Your inner beauty should be the light that others see. Jesus can fill that hole in your heart. Don’t devalue yourself. Love yourself.

I leave you with some truth in God’s Word:

Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.-Luke 12:6-7

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.-Philippians 4:8-9

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.-Romans 5:8

The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.-Zephaniah 3:17

Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.-Psalm 100:3

Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.-Ephesians 5:1-2

A Breath of Fresh Air

Hello Friends,

My Breath of Fresh Air is Trust God, He is bigger than your daily battles. It’s simple but it’s easier said than done. There are people in authority, statistics, predictions, and everything under the sun to tell you what the outcome will be. You worry and think that you must overcome your battles all by yourself. WRONG!!! I say that because I have done that many times.

Trusting God means that you are letting go of your “blueprint” and relying on His guidance to get you through His blueprint of life. You will not have all the answers available because God is God and He does not have to answer to you. Sorry, not sorry. In my own life, it has been a struggle to let go of my blueprint (Yes, I fall short all the time). Once I let go of my pride and plan, the blueprint changed. I did not have all the answers but God did (and does). My battles were big but my God is bigger.  Just trust that He knows what is best.

I do not know how many times I have been thankful that God has not listened to my “blueprint.” His ways are higher and better. My mom always says trust God and yourself. I  ask you to trust God with your plans today, tomorrow, and forever. He has you!! Ask Him for trust and wisdom in His timing.

If you do not have that trust, ask God to save you, that you are a sinner, and you want to put your trust in Him. The Bible says that if we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, then the Holy Spirit will come and live inside of us. We won’t be chasing after man’s outcome for our battles because Jesus finished the battles when He went on the Cross. Jesus loves you…yes you!! No matter where you are in life, Jesus will save you if you let Him. Trusting in God is the assurance that you can face whatever tomorrow brings.  If you ever have any questions about salvation or Jesus, comment below. I would to tell you about my Jesus.

I will end with some Scripture:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.-Proverbs 3:5-6

Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.-Proverbs 16:3

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.-1 John 5:14

But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.-Jeremiah 17:7-8

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”-Psalm 91:1-2

For we live by faith, not by sight.-2 Corinthians 5:7

Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord.- Proverbs 16:20

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.-Jeremiah 29:11

Remember to Trust God with your battles. Love you all!!

A Breath of Fresh Air

Hello Friends!!

The Breath of Fresh Air is God’s confidence is better than relying on my own self-confidence. Last week was a struggle in school. It was like it was my first semester of law school rather than my sixth semester. It was the rollercoaster that started at 100 rather than from 0 to 100. New experiences and responsibilities caused me to feel inadequate. I felt like a goldfish in the Pacific Ocean.

Thankfully, God is not like me. God is God. He is the GREAT I AM. I do not have the answers to confidence because I am weak in my own nature but God says in His Word many truths about confidence:

For the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.-Proverbs 3:26

And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.-1 John 5:14

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.-Hebrews 4:16

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.-Philippians 4:13

Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.-Proverbs 3:5-6

The list goes on and on….So friends, use God’s confidence because there is assurance and 100% success rate. My mom reminds me that “You can never go wrong relying on God.” And that is what I will end the day with.

A Breath of Fresh Air

Hello All!!

This segment is meant to give you some spiritual inspiration. God gives us the lungs and air to live. Life and truth is in Jesus Christ.  In His Word, there are many passages about breathing and air:

Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.-Genesis 2:7

The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life.-Job 33:4

This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.-Ezekiel 37:5-6

So, here is some fresh air. It is the start of a new week. It is the start or beginnings of a new school year.

My Breath of Fresh Air is God finishes what He starts. I am realizing that this time next year, I will be entering my final semester as a law student. So far, I have gone through so much as a law student spiritually, academically, relationally, physically, emotionally, and beyond. I often times felt that I was going to fail, that I was not enough, that everyone is better than me, that I cannot be a lawyer, etc. Pretty much, the Enemy was in my space. But God…

In my mountaintops and valleys, God still says “You are right where I need you to be,” “I am right here,” “Trust me.” It is easier to give in and believe that you are inadequate. But God did not bring you this far to turn back. In His Word, it says”being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”-(Philippians 1:6). God finishes what He starts. Keep fighting, keep hustling, keep holding on. Finish the race God has for you. He will see you through.

There is a wonderful song that I listened to on the drive from church. It is called Stand by Donnie McClurkin. A verse from the song says:

Tell me what do you give when you’ve given your all?
Seems like you can’t make it through.
Child, you just stand when there’s nothing left to do
You just stand, watch the Lord see you through
Yes, after you’ve done all you can,
You just stand

So friends, God has YOU!! He will turn your failures into successes, your valleys into mountaintops, and your trials to triumphs. He finishes what He starts.
