For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.-John 3:16-17

We, as sinners, were meant for judgment away from the God of the Universe.  But God sent His Son to reprieve our imminent punishment. You are worth saving. You are worth Him going to the Cross. Believe in Jesus. Live with eternal hope in the mist of a fallen world.

A Breath of Fresh, Healing Air

Hi Friends,

It has been a while since I have posted, but I am back. My Breath of Fresh, Healing Air is  Faith, Strength, and Perseverance in the valley leads to a Testimony proclaiming His strength and goodness. 

May 21st is a monumental day. It has been two years since my sister’s successful, bone marrow transplant. My sister lived with Sickle Cell Anemia for 20 years.  It came to a point where she could not live in chronic pain forever. There were hills and valleys she experienced. Having a bone marrow transplant was a risk. There was doubt, uncertainty, and fear on all fronts but GOD is greater than human emotion. My sister persevered and believed in her healing. We stepped in faith. We believed and persevered. She came out stronger than before.

When people hear my sister’s story, they ask “How did you get through this?” Faith. Strength. Perseverance.

We, as humans, are not promised a perfect life. Jesus was the perfect man yet He suffered and died on the Cross. In spite of His suffering, Jesus had faith in His Father’s Will, Jesus had strength even though people thought He was crazy and delusional, and Jesus persevered in hills and valleys to come out strong in His Father’s Victory. 

Follow the example of Jesus. Have faith that God is working on your behalf; He has a plan for your life. Ask God for strength. He will give you His strength, strength that humans cannot understand. Persevere and finish the race. Your victory is coming!!

James 1:2-4, 12 –Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

Proverbs 3:5-6 -Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Romans 5:1-4 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.  Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;  perseverance, character; and character, hope.

easter-cross No sacrifice is superior to the One Sacrifice on Calvary.

Jesus sacrificed Himself, the spotless Lamb to save me. The road to Calvary was long, hard, and unfathomable. To be honest, I could not do what Jesus did: Save Humanity.

God gave His Son to the world, even though they would say “Crucify Him.” Jesus loved even to the point of death. He died for you and me. He did not have to but He did. He rose in victory so you and I could have victory. I could not do the impossible. The impossible was possible. The sacrifice was possible. Jesus was the Possible. He is the Possible. He still is the Possible. He will be the Possible. For that, I am thankful for my Risen Savior.

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”-Mark 10:45

A Breath of Fresh, Prudent Air

Being prudent is more than knowing more than the person next to you. Life is more than being the sharpest crayon in the box.

God gives the standard of prudence in His Word. Longevity and prudent character comes from God.

The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel: for gaining wisdom and instruction; for understanding words of insight; for receiving instruction in prudent behavior, doing what is right and just and fair; for giving prudence to those who are simple, knowledge and discretion to the young—let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance—for understanding proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.-Proverbs 1:1-7

Being prudent is acknowledging Jesus as the foundation and compass to your life, listening to the wise people who have come before you and giving the wisdom to the next generation, being fair to others, having discernment in different situations, and continuing to seek wisdom.

Being prudent is a process. One of the definitions of prudent means acting with or showing care and thought for the future. I am learning more and gaining more wisdom and knowledge as I grow in my faith and age. God gives His wisdom and instruction freely but one has to be willing to listen. So I encourage you to listen, discern, and live the way God wants you to live.

A Breath of Fresh Air

There are many times where I get lost in life. I lose myself and allow self destruction to make me feel inadequate. It is only the Enemy’s scheme is steal, kill, and destroy my joy.

With Jesus, He calls you and me, Beloved. He provides for all our needs. He makes us whole. He is everything and more. He takes the broken pieces and our mess and gives us grace, peace, mercy, and purpose.

No matter where you are or how broken you feel, Jesus still loves and values you. You can never go wrong with following God.

My Breath of Fresh Air is Trust that Your Circumstances will get Better with God’s Help and Guidance.

I say this because I am currently struggling with this. I am having to learn to trust that where I am 62675570cd34e8cedc30bc9ef946c6b2is where God wants me to be. I have found myself anxious…as usual. I think it is because even though I am graduating in December, the great beyond (i.e. taking the Bar and finding employment) has been lingering. My peers are heading into their futures and I feel left behind. Then, I question my path and then doubt sets in. And the downward spiral of doubt keeps going.

BUT my path is already known to the Creator. He can see the vivid landscape of my life. I have had to read Scripture and be encouraged by my parents of the promises of God.  So I encourage you all to rely on the promises of God. Whatever issues you are going through, God is not blind to them. Follow His lead (because we all know that if we lead, we mess it up). Wherever you are, there is a purpose. I still have to remember those truths so do not get discouraged. Obediently follow the vivid path God has laid out. 

Here’s what God says about our path:

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”-Joshua 1:9

 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.-2 Corinthians 4:7-9

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

There is more truth in His Word for you. Hang in there, friends. God’s got us.

A Breath of Fresh Love

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.-1 Corinthians 13:4-8
I have heard this scripture spoken at weddings but this can apply to any person in any stage of life. Have you ever replaced “Love” with your name? Are you patient? kind? not self-seeking? As I replace love with Bianca, I do not add up because I fall short. I strive to be all these qualities.  Jesus was all these qualities and then some. So do not forget, whether married or single, you are still called to love as Jesus loved and show the qualities and character of love. Ask God to give you those qualities. You can never go wrong with following God.

My Breath of Fresh Air is Remember God’s Faithfulness in the Past and Present.

Never be afraid to look back. The place where you are today is because of the orchestration of God’s providence and timing. I still look back on times where I am glad that God did not listen to me; I would have been on a different track.  In good moments and bad moments, God is still faithful to His promises and will not put you to shame.

There is this amazing song called Made A Way by Travis Greene (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDnrYaDPcig). The chorus says: You made a way , When our backs were against the wall And it looked as if it was over, You made a way, And we’re standing here Only because you made a way, You made a way

He made a way for you and me. Never forget that He is faithful. If you are in a valley, know that God is still there. You will look back and see God. I experienced a setback this week but I had to think that God has been with me from the start and He will not let me fail.If you’re on a mountaintop, look and be humbled by experiences that lead you there.

Instead of me pouring a mountain of Scripture on you, I will give you one Scripture that speaks to me  and I challenge you to find Scripture that speaks to you in your situation.

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
    for his compassions never fail.
 They are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.-Lamentations 3:22-23

A Breath of Fresh Air

“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”(which means “God with us”)-Matthew 1:23

My Breath of Fresh Air is God is with you. It is simple with not much fanfare, but it is something the world needs to hear.

This past year has had its share of tragedy, pain, division, and hate. BUT,  Jesus, our Immanuel, was sent to be our peace in the mist of darkness. Let that be the comfort and peace you experience during this holiday season. Share that with others that God is with them.

If you believe that, He will dwell inside of you. He will refresh you. He will be that Breath of Fresh Air, daily. If you don’t know that truth, then I encourage you to seek it. Romans 10:9-13 says:  If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

It is true. God will dwell with you no matter where you are.

Below is some encouragement:

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of graceand truth.-John 1:14

The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.-Psalm 145:18

For to us a child is born,
    to us a son is given,
    and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
 Of the greatness of his government and peace
    there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
    and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
    with justice and righteousness
    from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
    will accomplish this.-Isaiah 9:6-7

My Breath of Fresh Air is to discern to live in truth rather than the world’s opinions and expectations.

Before,  I would be passive and allow the bad things to take room with the positive, whether it was people or things.

Lately, my convictions have caused me to go outside of my “safe Christian comfort level.”I have been at such a crossroads with people and things that I thought were true and genuine. I started understanding that the road to heaven is not broad but narrow. I started acting on my convictions and actively making tough decisions.

God’s discernment is key because it guides and directs your path. When you know God’s truths, then your discernment kicks in. You are not swayed by popular opinion but rely on God’s truths in the decisions you make. But to get discernment from Him, you have to have knowledge of God’s truths through His Word. To have that understanding you must be saved and ask Jesus to come into your heart. From His Word, you get infallible truth that does not fade.

BUT, you have to want that truth and act on the convictions God gives you (Easier said than done). Ask God to give discernment and also courage to act. And He will see you through. It is not enough to read it and put it aside. You can’t go the other things or people for truth because it will fail you down the line and disappoint you.

Discernment gives you growth. You are growing into the person God has called you to be. Do not be afraid. God has not given us a spirit of fear.

Pray for conviction. Pray for discernment. Pray for courage to act on your convictions.

I will leave you with God’s truths about discernment and knowledge:

An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.-Proverbs 18:15

When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.-Romans 13:11

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.-Psalm 1:1-2

The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.-Proverbs 4:7

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,  filled with the fruit of righteousnessthat comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.-Philippians 1:9-11
