The Silver Lining to the Current Presidency

The Silver Lining to the Current Presidency

I know what you may be thinking: And what may that be, Bianca?

The silver lining is I see who people really are.

I feel like prior to this era, people’s prejudice would show it’s ugly head every now and then. I had faith in people. I thought the best in people especially Christians.

But once the current president ran, I started to see where people stood and people’s tolerances. I really started to see who people really were.

Maya Angelou says “When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.” Usually people’s first reactions is really how they feel.

When the current president would say or do something unbecoming, the people that I thought would be outraged would make excuses or be silent.

What? I thought you were better than that.

Then, I would see how people really thought through their social media. The racist propaganda against Obama and promotion of the current president’s rhetoric. The mean-hearted comments. The videos displaying hate. The articles of angry rhetoric and division. The “us” against “them” attitude.

I’m not saying everyone should think the same. We can have disagreements but it should not turn into name-calling and empty, divisive rhetoric.

Now, I am guarded when I encounter people. I watch people’s actions much more than the words they say.

What you talk and how you walk matters to me.

A backtrack from what you say originally speaks louder to me.

Yes, no one is perfect. But sometimes the evidence can be overwhelming.

I love and befriend from a distance. I try to take the high road towards ignorance. I post God’s Word because it cannot be disputed. I try to live as an ambassador for Christ in a lost and dying world.

I will not be perfect but I try to be who I say I am.  To live what I preach.

Blissfully,

Bianca

Watch Your Mouth!

Watch Your Mouth!

Watch what you say and how you say it.

You can’t burn your pipe on both ends and expect respect for one side and not be criticized for the other side.

These days, there are some people who have really confused me. I don’t know which person to believe.

For Christians, the world is watching our words. Believe that. That does not mean we cannot stand on our Biblical values. The Bible says to stand firm and let nothing move us as long as God is the center of what we believe.

Just filter what you say. I don’t always post what is on my mind. I think about my audience. I think about if what I am saying is uplifting, edifying, or encouraging. Am I saying words for my own self-benefit and ego or for others? Does what I say reflect Jesus or reflect my own pride and ego?

Yes, no one is perfect. I mess up. I am preaching to myself. I have watch my mouth too.

The best thing I can do and you can do is: If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything. Think before you post. Check your sources.

This is not Bianca’s words. Read what God says about my words and your words.

The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.- Proverbs 12:18, 25

A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.-Proverbs 15:1, 4

Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.- Proverbs 16: 24

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.-Proverbs 18:21

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.-Ephesians 4:29

Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.-Colossians 4:5-6

But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,  keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.- 1 Peter 3:15-16

So remember to watch your mouth, please.

Bianca

Laying It All Out

Laying It All Out

With everything that is going on in the world, I wanted to set the record straight on my personal journey as a Christ follower.

I feel like this will be a challenge because I will be discussing my personal stance on certain hot topics. I may lose friends. I may lose followers. But I am willing to lay it out.

First, my allegiance is not to a party, a religious group, or a Facebook group. My allegiance is to Jesus Christ alone. Yes, I am in this world. But I am not of this world. Yes, I am thankful to live in America but I know this is not my permanent home. Heaven is my home.

Second, I do not speak for all Christians. I speak for myself. I have my own convictions. I believe what I believe. I am open to hear people out but ultimately I have my opinion.

Third, I speak from my own experiences. I do not live the same life as everyone so my viewpoint will be unique. Sometimes, you will understand where I am coming from. Sometimes you won’t.

Fourth, I am a sinner saved by grace. I make mistakes. I am no way perfect. I don’t want to preach to you. I am stating my own truth. These posts are to challenge myself as much as you all.

I hope you take each post with a grain of salt. I hope you are challenged. I hope you are encouraged. Thanks

Blissfully,

Bianca

Believe in Your Calling

Believe in Your Calling

My mom is one of the wisest people I know. She has lived longer and has seen so much. Before I would roll my eyes (in my head), but now I value of her sage advice. A lesson I hold on to is never lose your calling.

God has a plan and a purpose.

He gives us all gifts and talents that should not go to waste. They are not for you but to give to the world. For God’s sovereign plan to be executed.

Never let anyone diminish you and your purpose.  If someone causes you to doubt your value and calling, that person does not need to be in your life. If God is for you, who can be against you? No One. Not even one if you don’t allow them to.

If God is in the mist, you will win! Hold on. It gets difficult. People will not understand you. People will betray and slander you. Just hold on. If God is for you, who can be against?

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?-Romans 8:31

The Skies Are Changing

The Skies Are Changing

On the horizon of a new beginning, the atmospheric skies are changing .

The blueprint you anticipated has flipped.

What you desired is not what is in store.

The strategy has changed but the goal is unchanged.

It may seem like failure but as you look up, the sun shines brightly.

The skies are changing but God is still saying “I am still rooting for you.”

You look down to earth, look inside yourself, and move forward.

Heaven is working on your behalf.

Believe In Yourself

Believe In Yourself

Your identity was created and formed by the Creator of the Universe.  Let no one tell you otherwise.  You have purpose. Yes, you evolve with life experiences. You grow for the better, not for worse. A different season may require a different version of you but never lose your essence.

Personally, when I moved to Jacksonville and starting a new chapter in law school, I promised myself to not be swept away. I wanted to still be Bianca..but a better version. I did not want my faith in God to waiver,  lose my morals and values, and lose my personality. God fearfully and wonderfully made me genuine and set apart. I am still Bianca but I am a better version not a different version.

So I encourage you to change, grow, and thrive as a better version of you. You are wanted and you are strategically placed on the Earth for a reason. Never lose who you are.

The Fear Is Real

The Fear Is Real

My last set of midterms are over. whew!

Less than 60 days to graduation. oh boy!

Moving to a new city in less than 65 days. oh gosh!

Finding employment with medical benefits, vacation days, paid time off. YIKES!

The Bar is coming. DOUBLE YIKES!

You know that feeling when life was slow and steady and you want life to go faster and it actually gets faster. Life is changing in a matter of months. It is a lot to take in. I do not like change but this change is LIFE-CHANGING.  The season of the single law school student will be no more after December. I will be a Bar prep student/ Bar Exam Taker from December to February. Then what? I am in the general population. I will be waiting for results. But what’s next? The past 8 years of my life have been “planned” with school. But now, the fear is real. The fear of the unknown.

I am truly having to live by faith and not by sight. My security nets are falling away. I am starting fresh in a new season. I am so terrified. BUT, I am always reminded of wise words from my dad: You can never go wrong with Jesus. He has not brought you this far to leave or forsake you.

Like I said, I am scared but these wise words are what I hold on to. For now, I am enjoying the last few months of this long three-year season. But the best is yet to come.

Blissfully,

Bianca
